LID Diet

For those who aren’t familiar with LID, it stands for Low Iodine Diet. Some patients with thyroid cancer undergo a treatment called RAI (Radioactive Iodine), and need to go on this diet for about 2-weeks in preparation of the treatment.

It is a pretty restrictive diet and can be very stressful to think about on top of everything else, so having a plan and meal prepping in advance is definitely the way to go!

LID Life Community is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created by thyroid cancer survivors. Their website breaks down LID safe food options for thyroid cancer patients preparing for their RAI Treatment.

There are tabs with grocery lists, safe restaurants, and store brands that are LID approved.

This was super helpful to me! It allowed me to feel confident in my food choices without fearing messing up my RAI scans.
